Retail experts – March 26

We’ve been busy targeting the retail sector press for our client, BearingPoint looking at issues which they can advise clients on, or on issues which they have an interesting point of view.

In Retail Sector Magazine opinions were provided on how weight-loss drugs like Wegovy and Mounjaro are having an impact on the UK’s grocery sector. Then, Emile Naus, Partner at BearingPoint provided views to Retail Week on how AI forecasting has transformed product ranging and stockholding.

We then also positioned Claire Wallis, Consumer Goods and Retail Director, BearingPoint as an expert in Retail Sector Magazine’s feature looking at how operating resale channels present significant challenges for companies.

Claire said recommerce requires infrastructure many retailers have yet to fully develop and added: “Resale only works when the operating model is designed for it. Reverse logistics, quality control, pricing discipline and customer trust are non-negotiable. Where these are missing, volume platforms win.”

Claire added: “With resale volume increasingly captured by external platforms, physical retail risks losing relevance in the secondary market. Stores must justify their role through experience, service and brand engagement rather than transaction alone.”
