Briefings pay off – Jan 24

It’s been a busy start to the year with media briefings for our client, Source Global Research. We’ve organised briefings with journalists at The Financial Times, Bloomberg UK, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Times, and City AM.

This tactic has already led to a number of pieces either featuring Source’s market data or comments from world leading consulting expert and CEO of Source, Fiona Czerniawska.

In the Daily Telegraph, Fiona said that she expected cost cutting to continue into 2024, adding: “We don’t see any signs at the moment of a sudden change in the market that would mean that they didn’t need to be thinking about profitability.” Fiona also pointed out in this piece that, “Accountancy firms will want to avoid further sweeping redundancies in their deals team this year. Drastic layoffs are not only reputationally damaging, but also leave firms without the manpower if deals return sooner than expected.”

Then two days later Bloomberg reported that job vacancies in the consulting sector have plummeted in the last year. Fiona highlighted in the piece that the UK’s upcoming election is also likely to pressure the market, adding that, “Businesses typically pause investment decisions that bring advisory work, while the government also holds off spending on consultants in election years.”

Following an online briefing with the Financial Times’ US Accounting Editor, based in New York, Source’s data forecasting that professional services firms will increase revenue from the US public sector — including state and local agencies as well as the federal government — by 4% this year was featured in this Financial Times feature.
